We’re living in a time where it’s hard to keep up. We’re asked to do more with less, all the while the goalposts keep changing. Most, if not all, of us are tired… and tired of hearing narratives that don’t reflect our day-to-day work as we do our best to support students. It’s easy to lose sight of the forest for the trees.
Disengaging is only a natural response. But it’s times like these when staying engaged matters most–and when it can do the greatest good.
Do some good: share your student stories. Access to postsecondary opportunities has generational impact. And legislators don’t often get to hear about those real, lived outcomes. Let’s tell them.
Please consider joining us for GPACAC state Advocacy Day in February. Register here if you’re even remotely interested and we’ll keep you up-to-date on plans. If you’re unsure whether your supervisor will support your attendance, we’ve created a letter you can personalize and share with them. If you ultimately can’t attend, we’d still love your support. Register anyway and we’ll stay in touch with ways you can engage from afar.

Communicating with our representatives is one way to start advocating for the issues we care about. But sometimes it's hard to know who to reach out to. Constituents in our states can find their legislators' information at the below links

Per state law, voter registration books close 21 days prior to an election. To participate in the 2025 general election on November 4, 2025, voter registrations or updates to registrations must be received by October 14, 2025.
Different types of registration may have different deadlines, but many are the third Friday preceding an election. There are no regular statewide elections in Nebraska this year but you may have school board or other ballot measures on which to vote.
Registration applications must be received at least 25 days prior to an election in order to participate in that election. To vote in the election on November 18, 2025, registration applications must be received by October 24, 2025.
