GPACAC is offering a three-part virtual Diversity Series in the 2024-2025 academic year. Each session will feature a DEI expert who will educate our members on timely topics centered around inclusion, access, and equity. Members who participate in all three Diversity Series events will earn a Diversity Series certification!

Feb 19 - Ally or Accomplice - How to Support Marginalized and Minoritized Students.

• Speakers: Vern Davis-Showell, Ed.S., Certified School Psychologist
• Description: This presentation is designed to explore the critical roles of professionals who work with children in fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment. Participants will delve into the nuances of supporting students of color, understanding the challenges they face, and gaining practical insights into becoming effective advocates. The presentation will provide an overview of key concepts and strategies to empower educators and other stakeholders in creating an equitable and welcoming learning space. By the end of this presentation, participants will have gained valuable insights into the complexities of supporting marginalized and minoritized students. Attendees will have access to surveys that will help them to reflect on current practices in their workplaces.
