Description:  Many working professionals are familiar with the term "safe space," which denotes that an environment is safe, welcoming, and inclusive. However, a constantly shifting landscape of legislation and policy means that higher education professionals may not always be able to cultivate those safe spaces - but maybe they can make some brave ones! Join Irissa Baxter-Luper for a session on how best to support historically marginalized student communities while recognizing and navigating the tightrope of campus policy and institutional oppression. Speaker: Colton Holmes, Academic Counselor, Oklahoma State University - Tulsa 

Description:  This session will provide a base foundation on how support resources can better serve Indigenous students while giving participants an education on the history of Indigenous people in Oklahoma, the development of Indigenous student identity, and the relationship between Indigenous people and educational institutions.
