To kick-off this year’s cycle, I am excited to share a few changes and enhancements to our membership registration process. As you review the new information, please know that I’ll be here to be a resource for you through every step of the way! I have included process steps for both individual and institutional members below, as well as a listing of dates and times where I will be available for GPACAC Office Hours to provide 1:1 support. Our membership website is also a great place to find updates. Prefer to listen to guidance about this year’s updates and process? Check out this instructional video that walks through the information outlined below in a different format. Please chuckle with me when the AI tries to pronounce “GPACAC”!
Let’s get started! As you review registration guidance, please first determine the best membership type for your situation. Here are a few examples to help you get started:
- If you are at a high school, community based organization, college, etc. where there is potential for there to be multiple staff members who would be GPACAC members, it may be best for you to continue as or transition to an institutional membership this year, and add individual staff members under the umbrella. With this, one GPACAC Lead for your employer will rejoin your institution each year, but changes and renewal at the individual level will only need to occur if there are staffing updates. I’ll share more information about the role of a GPACAC Membership Lead below too!
- If you are a retired professional, IEC or know you will have no other counseling or education colleagues joining, an individual membership will be the best option for you, and you’ll be responsible for renewing your membership each year solely.
Individual Membership Guidance
If you have determined that an individual registration is the best option for you, it is time to knock out your registration for 2026-2027 cycle! The individual membership form can be found here. You will renew your membership this year and then will continue to renew on a yearly basis.
Institutional Membership Guidance
This area is where we are announcing the new enhancements this year, so please review and do not hesitate to ask if there are any questions!
- Step One: Identify an Institutional GPACAC Membership Lead
- BEFORE joining as an institutional member this year, each institution will need to select a GPACAC Membership Lead who will be the owner and manager of the NEW institution portal!
- What is an Institutional GPACAC Membership Lead? Great question! This person will be responsible for managing and updating the roster to add and remove members. Employees under an institutional umbrella can update their personal details and information via their individual portal (same as previous years) or the GPACAC Membership Institutional Lead can also update on their behalf through the portal. For example, I serve in this role at K-State for our Manhattan Campus. I will be responsible for maintaining our roster for our Recruitment and Admissions office, but also college and campus partners that are members as well.
- Not sure where to start with identifying this lead? I would recommend connecting with your Department Head, Supervisor, or Director of Admissions and/or Recruitment to begin the conversation.
- Step Two: Renew Institutional Membership for New Cycle
- Once a lead has been selected, it is time to register! The institutional membership form can be found here. The lead will renew the membership this year and then will continue to renew on a yearly basis. Institutions will join each year, but those under the umbrella will not need to rejoin.
- Once an institution is joined for this year, the lead will receive log in information for the new institutional portal where they will see their roster. This will be sent to the e-mail that was provided as the institution e-mail during registration.
- For example, for K-State, we use our apply@k-state.edu as our GPACAC Membership Lead e-mail, and I will receive the institutional portal log in to that e-mail.
- Step Three: Log-in to Institutional Portal and Update Roster
- After registration, the lead can log-in to the portal to review the existing roster to see if there is anyone that needs to be added or removed by using the prompts that will display within the portal. This can be reviewed upon registration, but also at any point on demand throughout the cycle. We encourage periodic review to ensure that the roster is complete and accurate!
- If a new team member is added to the roster, they will receive a confirmation e-mail with instructions on how to log-in to their individual portal.
- If a team member is deleted, their GPACAC membership will be inactivated.
- For example, I will rejoin for K-State each year, but everyone who works on our Manhattan campus will not need to rejoin each year. I’ll work with our campus to keep our roster updated. Individuals can also update their information if anything changes - job titles, roles, contact information, etc., on demand within their individual portal.
